I’ll definitely give it a go. See how we get on! It’s been awhile since I’ve watched the eps as well!

    Thanks so much, Jacci!
I love that you enjoyed it without having seen a single episode of the show! It really is a great show – well worth watching for the slashy BDSM subtext alone as that’s HUGE – you don’t even have to try hard to find it! LOL!

    Hi Arseniclace!
I think it’s an interesting point about slash pairings – because I think TV shows have woken up to the fact that bromances work really well and are very popular. And in fact the female equivalents are too. While some people pretty much only watch shows for ‘will they/won’t they’ het couples, a lot of people like seeing friendships portrayed and that’s easier when the friendship is between people of the same gender as it doesn’t devolve into romance the way opposite gender friendships inevitably do on TV (it’s like a law or something). See, I LOVE friendship. I’m pretty meh about romance on most shows other than show that are ABOUT romance. I just find it boring. But I love seeing friendship – and I love the Rizzoli and Isles friendship as much as I love a m/m kind of friendship. I wish shows would actually do more in that respect. R&I is brilliant for really portraying a close friendship – I’d like the bromance shows to give us more along those lines too.
And yay! LOL! I love that you got turned onto various TV shows via my fics!!! Hee!

I love Louis as a ferret! And Harold as a panda *g*.
And yes, Mike as a white rabbit would look adorable curled up next to that black panther! LOL! But I wonder if Mike has more edge than a rabbit allows for? I could see him looking cuddlier than he is. There’s an element of sneakiness in Mike – he does lie quite easily as well. I like the lyre bird for him – or some kind of parrot – he’s very good at parroting information back! And for some reason I rather like the idea of him as a serval to Harvey’s black panther.
I could buy Trevor as a rat and Jenny as a mouse or hamster – both work for me!
    Dennis – crocodile?
Rachel – racoon or lemur – dunno why – it just seems to spring to mind when I think of her.
Jessica – she’s pretty clever – I could see her as a monkey – maybe a golden lion tamarin?

THIS! This is so true! That Night Time Sleeping Position is totally where Jemima sleeps every single night! LOL! And they even launch themselves onto the window sill from that exact spot that’s the dresser launch pad in the drawing! LOL!

I loved all the female characters, even the deeply flawed ones, because there were good reasons for their flaws. I loved Catelyn too. I think it just goes to show that you have to write women as people first in order for them to be strong and interesting – and that’s mainly what TV shows DON’T do. Maybe this one did better because it was a book first and had fleshed out the women in that. Because in most TV shows the women are there to be ‘hot and kickass’, ‘sex object’ and ‘strong in a man’s world’ (which usually means brittle, stroppy, and prone to needing men to rescue her in my experience) and they all end up as cliches – and incidentally widely disliked by other women. I really loved loving the women on GOT as much or more than the men because they were genuinely interesting in their own right. It’s a bit like Rizzoli and Isles – write them as the central characters and not there to be some cliche and we like them.

OMG! This is SO weird because I was thinking about this a few night’s ago!
I decided that Harvey’s daemon was some kind of cat – either a large, black domestic cat or a full blown black panther. His daemon would be very sleek and shiny and fastidious, obviously! And prone to just lounging around, seemingly almost invisible, until she needs to spring into action and then she’s mightily dangerous!
For some reason, I kept getting an image of Mike having a bird daemon and I really don’t know why! It’d not something I’d consciously choose for him. Maybe it’s a riff on being ‘high’ *g*. Or maybe it’s the notion that with that unusual brain he’s much in his head rather than being more down to earth.
I can totally see his daemon as some kind of dog though. But I like the idea of his bird daemon occasionally flying high above Harvey’s cat/panther and just out of reach and taunting him a bit *g*. I think they could have some fun games that way.
Not sure WHICH bird – maybe a blue jay.

Oh it’s wonderful! I couldn’t be arsed with the book either and almost gave up the show in the first 2 mins – i thought it’d be full of boring dungeons and dragons cliches, but it was wonderful! I watched all 12 eps in S1 in a single weekend with a good friend when I had my broken leg! We LOVED LOVED LOVED it and couldn’t stop compulsively watching the next ep! LOL! My favourite is Daenerys – but I adored the character Peter Dinklage played too – what a great actor he is!

Not to worry – most people don’t know. I didn’t talk about it at the time. I can’t stand fandom wank and there was no point speaking out in that particular fandom as a certain sector of it were little Queen Bees who ran everything at that time and a whole bunch of people were quite scared of them. I didn’t want to involve my flist in a war – it’s not cool.
The fandom has changed since then and become a nicer place with fewer Queen Bees! I can’t stand cliqueyness or that kind of meanness masquerading as some kind of faux intellectual superiority, so I just left the fandom. I didn’t write anything else in it again after that until I did my crossover transition to NCIS with Hiding in Plain Sight. I was glad to be out of it to be honest – it wasn’t a friendly or welcoming fandom at that time.
Moving Towards Acquiescence is a lovely story.

Aw – what silly babies! I love the markings of the ginger boy – he reminds me of my beautiful Freddie who I named after Freddie Mercury and who died when he was just a year old. Freddie was such an amazing character as well as being stunningly beautiful. I SO long to have another boy like that. I dream of finding a poor little ginger kitty and bringing him home and rescuing him. Sigh!
